The best-in-class KYB suspension comes with revised settings for even better traction and bump absorption. A new flatter seat and narrow shrouds enhance the ergonomics to give greater controllability – and with its uprated Power Tuner App the YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition is simpler to set up for strong performance at different tracks.

Exclusive 50th Anniversary Edition colours
50 years ago Yamaha started production of the legendary YZ line-up and to celebrate this special occasion we have created the YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition. With its 1990’s inspired white bodywork, purple/pink graphics, purple seat and black wheels, this exclusive model pays tribute to the YZ bikes and the riders that have made Yamaha one of the most respected names in motocross.
New bilateral aluminium frame
With a lower head pipe and new tank rails the YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition’s lightweight bilateral aluminium frame gives improved handling faster and smoother cornering. The lower centre of gravity and reduced weight make the YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition more agile than ever – and the revised balance of rigidity and YZ250F-specific engine mounts give plenty of feel and feedback.
Optimized rider ergonomics
The revised rider triangle accommodates riders of varying sizes and physiques. The shrouds are 50mm narrower, the flatter seat is 5mm higher and the footrests are 5mm lower, providing better ergonomics with enhanced controllability. The new side panels give a tighter and lighter look – and the new smaller front fender improves airflow to the radiators for consistent cooling.
Increased top-end power
The YZ250F is already regarded as one of the most competitive and responsive 250cc 4-stroke engines in the low to mid-rpm range. The YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition benefits from the new rear duct air-management system together with a reprogrammed ECU that boost top-end engine performance, making this Motocross Grand Prix race winning machine even more competitive for every rider.
Efficient air-management
The new rear duct airflow system channels fresh air through the spaces between the fuel tank, frame, seat and side panels – resulting in increased top-end engine performance and narrower body width. When air reaches the lightweight airbox it is pre-cleaned by a vortex that throws particles to the side, reducing air cleaner clogging and making routine maintenance easier.
Revised suspension settings
The YZ250F 50th Anniversary’s Edition’s KYB front forks are widely regarded as being amongst the best in class, and the new generation bike features revised settings as well as a new hand-adjustable compression damping adjuster. The link-type Monocross rear suspension and KYB shock also runs revised settings for high levels of traction and control – and the renewed Power Tuner App contains useful suspension setting data for quick and accurate manual adjustments.
Increased rear brake feel
The rear brake feel is improved on the new YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition with the adoption of a new rear hose material. This is designed to give you more accurate feel for a wider range of control when you’re sliding into tight turns or adjusting your in-flight position when jumping.
Lightweight components
Yamaha’s designers have focused on saving weight wherever possible while maintaining the reliability and durability of the YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition. Significant weight reductions have been made with a new subframe, redesigned fuel tank and fuel pump – as well as a new chain guide and redesigned control cables.
Renewed Power Tuner App
Yamaha’s Power Tuner App was one of the first smartphone engine tuning systems for motocross – and the new YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition is equipped with the latest version of the App. Select the ’Quick Tuning’ mode and you can use the scrollbar to set the engine power delivery at your chosen value between ‘Smooth’ and ‘Aggressive’, to match conditions and riding style.
New traction control and launch control systems
The new YZ250F 50th Anniversary Edition is equipped with the latest electronic technologies that give you the highest levels of controllability. The Launch Control enables you to set your maximum engine launch rpm when the gate drops for holeshot winning performance. And the Traction Control system offers two levels of assistance as well as an OFF function.
